
Master Hugues Yusen Naas (1952-2023)
Hugues Yusen Naas was born in Strasbourg in 1952. He practised zazen from 1975 and was ordained as a monk in 1977 by Master Deshimaru, whom he followed until the latter's death. He taught Dharma for 25 years at the dojo in Strasbourg.
In 2009, he received the transmission of the Dharma from Master Dôkô Raphaël Triet.
From the summer of 2002 until the summer of 2016, he was in charge of the Gendronnière Zen Temple, overseeing maintenance, improvement work, the organisation of the residents' daily life, and the hosting of sesshins and groups. He also taught in the dojo.
He held the position of abbot of La Gendronnière from April 2019 to May 2021.
He then left La Gendronnière to found the Daishugyôji Zen temple, which he directed until 2023 as president of the Daishugyo Zen association. He also directed sesshins in France and abroad.
