MY FIRST SESSHIN - MAY 9 to 11
Zen meditation retreat (sesshin) for people new to Zen practice. It will be led by Master Guy Mokuhô Mercier at the La Gendronnière temple from May 9 to 11, 2025 (arrival the day before in the late afternoon).
Beginners will be given an introduction to the practice on the evening of arrival.
Participating in a sesshin is the best way for those wishing to explore the path of Zen within a Buddhist monastery. This progressive experience will allow you to participate in daily teachings and enriching exchanges with elders of the tradition.
You will immerse yourself in the values of community life and experience the ceremonies and rituals that are emblematic of this ancient tradition.
The days are punctuated by four zazen sessions. The temple provides zafu (meditation cushions) and meditation benches. The daily program also includes meals eaten in silence and the practice of samu, service to the community.
