Takkesa Ge

Takkesa Ge, Kesa Sutra

Every morning, at the end of zazen, we chant this sutra three times as a sign of veneration to the kesa. The kesa is the clothing of Buddha, the garment of awakening transmitted from master to disciple and worn by monks. It was, originally, pieces of old cloth washed, dyed and carefully sewn together in the traditional way. When we chant the Takkesa Ge while sitting in zazen, we take this garment to the highest dimension.
